A338 crash: Man left trapped in car after hitting lorry head-on

A man has sustained serious injuries in a crash on the A338 in Wiltshire. Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision the busy route, a mile south of Burbage, at around 10.30am this morning (Friday). A white Vauxhall Corsa and a lorry impacted head-on, leaving the male driver trapped inside the badly damaged car for around two hours.

Firefighters, supported by ambulance crews and Wiltshire Air Ambulance medics, battled to extricated the casualty from the vehicle. At around 1pm, he was taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon with serious injuries.

They are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening. Following the recovery of the vehicles involved, the road reopened at around 3.30pm. Anyone with information or dashcam footage should contact Wiltshire Police by calling 101.
