A1 Colsterworth crash: Picture shows aftermath of lorry crash as road remains closed both ways
Pictures have emerged from the scene of a serious crash[1] between two lorries on a major Lincolnshire road. The incident, which took place just before 7am on the A1 at Colsterworth, is causing lengthy delays. The A1 is closed in both directions between the A607 at Harlaxton and the A606 at Stamford.
Emergency services are at the scene of the crash and the road will remain closed while recovery takes place. Pictures show a large HGV on its side over the central reservation and blocking both sides of the road. Another HGV can be seen in a ditch by the side of the carriageway.
It is not yet known if anyone was injured as a result of the crash. Get the latest Lincolnshire Live news with our email newsletters[2] A spokesperson for National Highways said: “The A1 in Lincolnshire is closed in both directions between the A607 (Harlaxton) and A606 (Stamford) due to a collision involving at least 2 lorries.
Emergency services including Lincolnshire Police are in attendance. “One lorry has overturned and has come to rest on its side on both sides of the carriageway. The other lorry has left the road and is down the verge at the side of the carriageway.
The road is expected to remain closed for several hours whilst the vehicles are recovered.”
