M5 reopens after lorry crash and fire in Gloucestershire

Two lanes were closed on the M5 following a lorry crash in Gloucestershire this evening (February 21). The collision was first reported heading northbound at around 6pm and led to around 4,500 litres of fuel being spilt on the road.

According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, the lanes were closed between junction 10 for Cheltenham and junction 9 for Tewkesbury. The crash cleared and traffic returned to normal by 9pm.

Inrix says: “Recovery work, oil spillage and earlier accident on M5 Northbound from J10 A4019 (Cheltenham) to J9 A46 (Tewkesbury). All lanes have been re-opened. 4500 litres of fuel was spilled onto the road after a collision but both have now been cleared and the road is open as normal.”
