Dunton Green M26 lorry and van crash: Man dies

The incident involving a white Iveco curtain-side van and a white Scania lorry with an orange trailer happened near Dunton Green on junction 5 just before 7.10am yesterday (February 14).

Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service crews attended and found a man injured.

He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

The M26 was shut westbound between Junction 3 and the M25 for around six hours.

It has since reopened following the crash.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Officers investigating a fatal collision on the M26 near Dunton Green are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

“Kent Police was called at around 7.07am on Wednesday 14 February 2024 to a two-vehicle collision between a white Iveco curtain sided van and a white Scania lorry with an orange coloured trailer near junction 5.

“Officers attended alongside the South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Investigations into the incident are underway.”

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service is responding to a crash on the M26, near Dunton Green, involving a van and a lorry.

“Three fire engines are at the scene, with Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service.

“KFRS stop time: ongoing as of 9am on 14 February.”
