Cambridgeshire’s most bashed bridge hit again as removal lorry crashes into it
The Cambridgeshire bridge that keeps catching out drivers of high vehicles has been hit by another lorry, just over a month after the last crash[1]. The incident along Station Road in Ely[2] on Wednesday (February 14) took place despite the signs warning of ‘a very low bridge’.
A Cambridgeshire[3] Police spokesperson said: “It’s safe to say that this removal van won’t be moving anywhere, let alone anything any time soon. Another bridge strike at Ely yesterday evening.
“Thankfully the bridge has more than nine lives! Please ensure you know the height of your vehicle and pay attention to height restriction signs.”

The bridge was hit multiple times in 2023, including in March[6] and September[7].
