Vital Crewe road to close for five days this month

Nantwich Road in Crewe is to close for five days later this month as roadworks are undertaken. More than 600 metres of the busy town centre shopping street will be closed from Sunday, January 21, and Thursday, January 25.

The road will be closed between Smallman Road and Mill Street. In a notice announcing the road closure, Cheshire East Council says pedestrian access to all premises in the affected area will be maintained at all times.

Vehicular access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and residents where possible; and cyclists will have to dismount when entering the area. The council adds the closure is necessary to carry out ‘Level 3 Scrim works’, relating to the wet skidding resistance of the road surface.
