Images of the flooding after Storm Henk have been shared on social media. Many UK locations were shown to be severely impacted, including villages in Nottinghamshire and Cambridgeshire, as well as rural plains like Curry Moor in Somerset.

With 192 floods warnings still in place, here are our latest photos of the aftermath of Storm Henk. Footage has shown houses submerged in water, and cars trying to drive through floodwaters, which can be very dangerous and is not advised by authorities.

Recent heavy rain downpours led to overflowing rivers, such as Riven Avon and River Severn. Flood plains such as at Shrewsbury by the River Severn seemed to turn into lakes with the infill of a phenomenal amount of water. A Thames floodplain engulfed with water is shown at Bourne End. Around Gloucester[18] airport many roads were closed.

In Nottinghamshire, drone footage has revealed the extent of flooding stretching around the centre of Newark. River Trent has overflowed. Based on floods in the county’s village of Collingham, this has been at “biblical levels” and the “worst flooding the area has experienced since the year 2000”, Rober Jenrick told Sky News[23].

Even though there has been an introduction to more settled weather over the weekend, as explained in our forecast[30], the impacts of previous heavy rainfall episodes continue to be felt strongly in England and Wales.
