Two drivers killed in A44 crash near Evesham
Two drivers were killed when their cars collided on an A-road across the border in Worcestershire. The double-fatal crash happened on Sunday (January 14) near Egdon, 10 miles north west of Evesham[1].
The collision, at around 12.25am, involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a Black Audi A3. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers in the Audi A3 were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. Police are appealing for information.
West Mercia Police said: "We’d like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed or has dash-cam footage of either the collision itself or either vehicle in minutes before the collision. West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to the A44, near Egdon, at 12.32am. It sent three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic, and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered four patients. One of whom, a man who was driving one of the cars, was found to have suffered serious injuries in the incident. Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“A second man, also a driver, was found to be in a critical condition. Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts, he was also confirmed dead at the scene.
“A further man, and a woman, were assessed and treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Worcester Royal Hospital.”
