Man in his 70s killed after serious lorry crash on A420
The crash, which took place at 12.50am on Tuesday, January 9, caused the road between Swindon[1] and Faringdon to close all day.
According to officers at the scene, one of the lorries which was involved in the initial collision jack-knifed and collided with a stationary lorry.
Thames Valley Police has now confirmed that a male driver of a Toyota Yaris, aged in his 70s, died of his injuries at the scene.
In a police statement, a spokesperson for the force said that two lorry drivers were taken to hospital for treatment, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.
The A420 is expected to remain closed until 10pm on Tuesday, as resurfacing work takes place.

“They are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
“I am appealing to anybody who was driving in the area at the time of the collision and has any information that can assist this investigation to please get in touch with us.

Speaking about the closure, a spokesperson for Thames Valley Police added: “The A420 remains closed in both directions due to emergency resurfacing work.
