Lorry driver injured on A14 near Cambridge after rock thrown at vehicles
Police say four vehicle were damaged after rocks were thrown from the side of the A14[1]. The incident occurred between junctions 32 and 33 of the dual carriageway near Cambridge.
Cambridgeshire Police asking for anyone who witnessed the incidents on Friday, December 29, to get in touch. Officers said around 10pm, rocks were thrown at vehicles from the side of the road.
One driver got broken glass in his eye after his lorry windscreen was smashed. Two other lorry drivers reported rocks had also smashed their windscreens, and one car’s bonnet was dented.
In a statement, Cambridgeshire[2] Constabulary said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses following a spate of incidents in which rocks were thrown at vehicles on the A14 at Cambridge. Rocks were thrown from the side of the road, causing damage to four passing vehicles, at about 10pm on Friday (29 December), between junctions 32 and 33.
“One driver got broken glass in his eye after his lorry windscreen was smashed and two lorry drivers reported rocks had also smashed their windscreens. Another victim said his car bonnet was dented by a rock.”
PC Finlay Betts said: “This reckless behaviour caused serious damage to vehicles but, even more worryingly, put multiple lives in danger and could have resulted in a devastating collision. I am urging anyone who may have any information or has dashcam footage to come forward.”
