‘Hit-and-run’ victim also ‘struck by lorry’, police say
The force were called to The Avenue, Bushey, at 4.32am today (January 17) and the road was closed. Later this morning it was confirmed that a pedestrian had reportedly been hit by a grey Volkswagen T-Roc.
A 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without due care or attention.
However, police have shared an update this afternoon adding that “the same man was then involved in a collision involving a lorry”.
Update: The lorry driver stopped at the scene of the crash, Herts Police confirmed.
After two ambulances, one ambulance officer vehicle, and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to the scene, a 25-year-old man from Poole was taken to St Mary’s Hospital with serious injuries.
He was transported by a ground ambulance and his injures are not life-threatening.
The road was closed once Herts Police and the East of England Ambulance Service arrived.
Update: Police confirmed that the road reopened at 2.20pm.
According to Hertfordshire Highways, officers at the scene have been “carrying out investigations”.
