In an unsettling incident captured on CCTV, a man was seen stealing items from a pickup truck in a housing estate near the Three Crowns pub in Stone. The footage, obtained by ‘A Little Bit of Stone’, shows the theft occurring in the early hours of Saturday, January 13th, 2024.
At approximately 4:36 A.M., the suspect, who arrived on a bicycle, targeted an unlocked pickup truck. The man, appearing to be under the influence, with stumbling and swaying movements, cautiously checked his surroundings before entering the vehicle.
Spending almost ten minutes inside the truck, the man rummaged through the vehicle. Upon his exit, he was seen carrying an assortment of clothing, including North Face and Regatta coats, along with a black fleece. The intention of the suspect, whether it was to steal the pickup itself or an opportunistic theft, remains unclear.
This incident has sparked concerns among residents regarding safety and the necessity of vigilance in securing their vehicles. It’s a reminder of the importance of locking vehicles and not leaving valuables in plain sight.
Staffordshire Police have been informed of the incident, with the forensic team paying a visit.
