Bath man killed as tree falls on car during Storm Henk in Gloucestershire

A motorist from Bath has died after a large tree fell onto his car as Storm Henk[1] battered the South West. The incident happened yesterday (January 2) at around 3.15pm.

Gloucestershire Police said emergency services including an air ambulance crew were called out to the A433 Tetbury Road after receiving reports of a tree hitting a car. The force said the incident happened near the junction with the A429 near Kemble and a road closure[2] which was set up remains in place this morning (January 3).

A spokesperson for the force said a man in his 50s from Bath died from injuries sustained in the incident. An appeal for witnesses has been issued by officers.

A statement from police said: "A man died after a tree fell on the car he was driving on Tetbury Road near Kemble yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 2 January. Police were called at around 3.15pm with reports of a large fallen tree on the A433 Tetbury Road near the junction with the A429.

"Emergency services, including an air ambulance, attended the location which is between Tetbury and Cirencester. Despite the efforts of those at the scene a man aged in his 50s and from the Bath area died. His next of kin and the coroner have been informed.

"The road remains closed as recovery and investigation work continues and motorists are asked to find alternative routes. Anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to officers is asked to provide information online by completing this form[5] and quoting incident 276 of 2 January
