Tragedy as man dies at scene of lorry crash that closed road for hours

A man has tragically died following a three-vehicle crash in County Durham[1].

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving three vehicles on the A6076 Causey Road, near Stanley[2]. at around 9.40am on December 15. Durham Constabulary[3] said the incident involved a Scania HGV, BMW and Land Rover.

Sadly, 60-year-old Paul Pendleton – the driver of the Land Rover – was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Nobody else was injured.

The road remained closed for several hours while initial inquiries were carried out, and has now been reopened.

Anybody with any information or dashcam footage relating to the incident is asked to contact Durham Police on 101, quoting incident number 91 of December 15.
