Tragedy as man dies at Huddersfield village mill complex

A man who collapsed at a mills complex near Huddersfield sadly died a short time later, police said.

West Yorkshire Police[1] along with ambulance paramedics attended Springfield Mills in Denby Dale[2] on Thursday evening due to a medical emergency involving a man in his 50s.

Sadly the man could not be saved despite receiving medical assistance. Air ambulance paramedics are understood to have attended the incident after landing nearby.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "At 7.01pm yesterday (Thursday), police were advised by the ambulance service of a male receiving medical assistance at Springfield Mills in Norman Road, Denby Dale.

"Police and paramedics attended, but the male was sadly pronounced deceased a short time later. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner."

The man who died was in his 50s, police said.

In a statement posted on social media, Julie Kaye, owner of Springfield Mill, said: "Due to the sad and sudden death of one of our friends and customers within Springfield Mill last night . Please do bear with us whilst family members are informed and the police and officials do their due diligence. We do appreciate your support and kind words at this time."

Yorkshire Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
