Teenage boy injured after being ‘hit by truck’ as police close main road
A teenage boy has been left injured after being ‘hit by a truck’ on a busy main road in Rochdale[1] on Tuesday evening (December 5).
Emergency services, including police and paramedics, raced to the incident on Oldham[2] Road (A671) at the junction with the Rochdale Bypass at around 3.30pm after the collision.
The teenage boy was rushed to hospital with leg injuries after he was struck. Police closed off the road in both directions, causing major rush hour delays in the area.
Videos and pictures from the scene on Tuesday evening show a number of emergency services vehicles arriving on blue lights, as witnesses reported seeing the teenager being treated by paramedics at the side of the road before he was taken to hospital for further treatment.
Greater Manchester Police[5] said that the teen, whose age was not disclosed, had been struck by a truck at around 3.30pm and that no arrests had been made in connection with the incident.
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are leading the enquires into the crash.
