Surrey’s major motorway and A-road closures as M3 weekend works loom

Disruptive roadworks will be taking place on many of Surrey’s major motorways and A-roads this week which drivers will need to be aware of. This includes a full closure of the M3 in both directions between junction 3 and junction 4 from 9pm on Friday, December 8 until 6am on Monday, December 11.

During this time, the footbridge over the M3 in Bagshot is to be demolished after a recent structural survey of the bridge raised urgent safety concerns. Drivers will need to follow diversion routes while this closure is in effect, the full details of which can be found here ^[1] .

Meanwhile, link road closures will also impact the likes of the A3 and the M25 ^[2] throughout the week. Closures usually occur between 9pm to 6am or 11pm to 8am to minimise disruption.

As such, those looking to travel late at night or early in the morning could see their journey disrupted or may need to follow diversion routes. For the full list of closures this week, see below.

Monday, December 4

The A3 southbound Cathedral entry and exit slip roads will be closed for drainage works between 9pm and 6am.
The M25 anti-clockwise junction 8 exit slip road will be closed for CAT 1 barrier repairs between 10pm and 5am with diversions via National Highways roads.

Tuesday, December 5

The A3 southbound Liphook Services entry and exit slip roads will be closed from 9pm to 6am for grass cutting works.
The M25 clockwise will be closed from junction 6 to junction 7 between the exit slip road and the entry slip road for carriageway inspections between 10pm and 5am. The M25 clockwise junction 7 to the M23 northbound junction 8 link road will also be closed during this time.
The M3 northbound junction 3 entry slip road will be closed between 9pm and 6am for survey works.

Wednesday, December 6

The A3 northbound Hazel Grove entry slip road will be closed for electrical works between 9pm and 6am.
The A3 southbound Wisley exit slip road will be closed for network improvement works between 10pm and 5.30am.
The A3 northbound Wisley Interchange entry slip road will be closed for network improvement works between 10pm and 5.30am.
The M25 clockwise junction 7 carriageway will be closed between the exit slip road and the entry slip road for inspections from 10pm to 5am. The M25 anticlockwise junction 7 to the M23 northbound and southbound junction 8 link roads will also be closed during this time.
The M25 junction 10 roundabout will be partially closed for network improvements between 10pm and 5.30am. The M25 anticlockwise junction 10 entry and exit slip roads will also be closed during this time.
The M25 clockwise junction 12 to the M3 westbound link road will be closed for maintenance works between 10pm and 5.30am.
The M25 anticlockwise to the M3 eastbound link road will be closed for maintenance works between 10pm and 5.30am.
The M25 clockwise junction 12 to the M3 eastbound link road will be closed for maintenance works between 10pm and 5.30am
The M3 junction 3 entry slip road will be closed for survey works between 9pm and 6am.
The M3 eastbound to the M25 clockwise link road will be closed for maintenance works between 10pm and 5.30am.
The M3 eastbound will be closed between junction 2 and junction 1 for maintenance works between 10pm and 5.30am.

Thursday, December 7

The A3 northbound Hazel Grove entry slip road will be closed for electrical works between 9pm and 6am.
The A3 southbound Compton exit slip road will be closed for drainage works between 9pm and 6am.
The A3 southbound Hogs Back exit slip road will be closed for drainage works between 9pm and 6am.
The A3 southbound Down Lane entry slip road will be closed for drainage works between 9pm and 6am.
The M25 clockwise junction 7 carriageway will be closed between the exit slip road and the entry slip road for inspections from 10pm to 5am. The M25 anticlockwise junction 7 to the M23 northbound and southbound junction 8 link roads will also be closed during this time.
The M25 clockwise junction 12 to the M3 westbound link road will be closed between 10pm and 5.30am.
The M25 anticlockwise to the M3 eastbound link road will be closed for maintenance works between 10pm and 5.30am.
The M25 clockwise junction 12 to the M3 eastbound link road will be closed for maintenance works between 10pm and 5.30am

The M3 eastbound to the M25 clockwise link road will be closed for maintenance works between 10pm and 5.30am
The M3 eastbound will be closed between junction 2 and junction 1 for maintenance works between 10pm and 5.30am.

Friday, December 8

The A3 northbound Hazel Grove entry slip road will be closed for electrical works between 9pm and 6am.
The A3 southbound Compton exit slip road will be closed for drainage works between 9pm and 6am.
The A3 southbound Hogs Back exit slip road will be closed for drainage works between 9pm and 6am.
The A3 southbound Down Lane entry slip road will be closed for drainage works between 9pm and 6am.
The M25 clockwise junction 8 entry slip road will be closed for electrical works between 11pm and 5am.
The M3 will be closed in both directions between junction 3 and junction 4 from 9pm on Friday, December 8 until 6am on Monday, December 11.
Lanes one and two will close on the M3 westbound between junction 2 and junction 3 for electrical works from 11pm to 5.30am.

Saturday, December 9

The M3 will be closed in both directions between junction 3 and junction 4 from 9pm on Friday, December 8 until 6am on Monday, December 11.

Sunday, December 10

The M25 clockwise junction 6 entry slip road will be closed between 10.30pm and 5am for CAT 1 quadgaurd repairs.
The M3 will be closed in both directions between junction 3 and junction 4 from 9pm on Friday, December 8 until 6am on Monday, December 11.
