Skipton-Keighley rail journey costs Oakworth woman over ?770
Georgina Sneyd made the journey between Skipton and Keighley on June 27 this year.
Kirklees Magistrates Court heard that on arriving in Keighley the defendant had produced an off-peak day return with a 16-25 railcard discount, but was unable to produce the railcard.
A letter seeking an explanation went unanswered and a fixed penalty notice was subsequently issued, but that remained unpaid.
Sneyd, 21, of Harewood Road, was fined £440 and ordered to pay a £176 victim surcharge, £150 in costs and £5.10 in compensation.
