Red paint thrown on new Birmingham Starbucks within days of it opening
Red paint was thrown all over the entrance of a brand new Birmingham Starbucks coffee shop[1] within days of it opening. Vandals splashed a large amount of red paint over the front of the new store, which only opened in Small Heath[2] on December 1.
Just five days into the running of the new branch, the bright red paint was splashed on much of the front of the store. Pictures from the scene show the substance spread across four glass panel panes.
West Midlands Police[3] confirmed to BirminghamLive[4] they are treating the incident as criminal damage, and that enquiries are ongoing. The night time hit took place at the new Starbucks branch at St Andrew's Retail Park on Coventry Road.
The store's assistant manager confirmed to BirminghamLive that the branch remains open. They stated that the stunt was filmed and put on social media. They added that staff "spent the day" scrubbing off paint from the doors and windows.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson[6] told BirminghamLive: "We are investigating after paint was thrown over a Starbucks store in Birmingham on 6 December.

"The incident, which is being treated as criminal damage, happened just before 10.30pm on St Andrew’s Retail Park on Coventry Road. Anyone with any information is asked to contact us via Live Chat or call 101 quoting 20/1056886/23."
The force confirmed to us as of yet no one has been arrested in relation to the incident, and enquiries are ongoing.
The coffee giant has a number of locations in Birmingham, including in the city centre, Birmingham Airport[7] and Birmingham New Street station. The chain opened its latest store on John Kempe Way[8] in the Camp Hill area of the city.
