Police car missing entire roof after ‘taxi crash’ in Birmingham city centre
A police car has been pictured with its entire roof missing after a reported crash with a taxi in Birmingham city centre[1] this morning. The A4400 St Chads Queensway has been closed to traffic this morning, with a huge police presence at the scene.
The entire upper half of the West Midlands Police[2] vehicle appears to have been cut off, with its doors, windscreen and roof missing. It is not yet known what has taken place however traffic monitoring website Inrix reported the Queensway was closed after an incident with a police car and taxi involved.
West Midlands Police has been approached for comment for further information. Inrix reported in an alert at 9.20am: “Snow Hill Queensway into town closed due to accident, a police car and a taxi involved from A4400 St Chads Circus Queensway to Colmore Circus Queensway.”
There is a large police presence surrounding the half-missing police car this morning. Police tape has been placed across roads while other police vehicles have been pictured at the scene, alongside police officers.
Buses have been diverted around the scene, a stone’s throw from the police’s Lloyd House headquarters, on what is expected to be a key Christmas[5] shopping day. We are awaiting details from West Midlands Police[6] and will update in due course.
