Police appeal as A50 smash between truck and van leaves two in Royal Stoke

Police[1] are appealing for witnesses after smash between a van and a truck on the A50[2] left two people in hospital. Emergency services - including firefighters and paramedics - were scrambled to the stretch between Blythe Bridge[3] and Uttoxeter[4] to reports of a collision.

And the incident between a Fiat Ducato van and a white truck left both drivers in the Royal Stoke University Hospital[5]. Now Staffordshire Police is appealing for witnesses to the crash, which occurred on the eastbound stretch just before 6.30pm on December 8.

StokeonTrentLive had previously reported[6] how the incident left the route closed off as emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the crash. West Midlands Ambulance Service[7] had sent three ambulances to the scene and say the driver of the Fiat, a woman in her 40s, suffered 'serious injuries'.

Meanwhile the trucker, a man in his 50s, was said to have sustained 'potentially serious injuries'. Both patients were taken to the Royal Stoke.

Officers are keen for any witnesses - or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. Anyone with information can call the force on 101 and quote incident 625 of December 8.
