Multiple incidents cause delays on major Cardiff routes and M4
A crash involving three cars on one of the major routes into Cardiff caused 48-minute delays this morning (Friday, December 1). Police say one person was injured and taken to hospital in the crash that happened on the A48 Eastern Avenue.
The westbound carriageway was partially blocked because of he accident from Pentwyn to the Llanedeyrn Interchange. Congestion was back to the A48(M) before St Mellons.
Just before 9am, Traffic Wales said there were delays of nearly 50 minutes in the area. The road re-opened at 9.30am.
Meanwhile, a breakdown caused long delays on the A4232, The southbound carriageway was partially blocked from the A48 Cowbridge Road at Culverhouse Cross to the Leckwith interchange for much of the rush hour. Congestion was back to junction 33 of the M4 at Cardiff West.
The vehicle involved was moved and congestion had eased by just before 9.10am.
On the M4, one lane was closed eastbound because a lorry had broken down between junction 24 Coldra and junction 23A Magor Services. All lanes re-opened just after 8.30am but residual delays remained.
