Moment car flips and hits child with mum in crash seconds from disaster

This is the jaw-dropping moment a mum and her child miraculously escape serious injury after a car crashed and flipped into their path. The astonishing collision happened near a zebra crossing in Olton[1], Solihull[2].

Shocking footage shows a car veering off Warwick Road before it strikes a lamppost. The vehicle then turns on its side as a mum and her child – believed to be a two-year-old girl – are on the pavement.

The quick-thinking pedestrian is able to turn the pushchair away as the car reaches them outside a parade of shops, just after 4pm, on Saturday, December 16. Seconds later the mum is seen clutching her daughter and sitting down on a chair outside a restaurant.

A shop worker, who raced to help following the collision, told BirminghamLive: “The mum was in shock and her little girl was only aged around two. We think she had a broken leg. It was a terrible crash.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service[4] sent two ambulances to the scene. The infant and female driver of the car suffered non-life-threatening injuries and both were taken to hospital. The girl’s mum was treated at the scene and discharged.
