Man in his 80s dies following A17 crash near Spalding

A man aged in his 80s has died following a crash on the A17 near Spalding. Police[1] said that he passed away on Friday (December 22) evening, following the crash on Thursday.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash on the A17 Spalding on Thursday (December 21) shortly before 4pm. The crash, at the Churchgate junction, involved a black Vauxhall Zafira and a black Ford Ranger.

Initially, police said that the man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. However, they confirmed on Friday evening that he had died as a result of his injuries.

In a statement released on Thursday (December 21), Lincolnshire Police said: “We are appealing for information after a two vehicle collision on the A17 Spalding. The collision, which involved a black Vauxhall Zafira and a black Ford Ranger, happened at around 3.40pm on Wednesday, 20 December, at the Churchgate junction.”

In a further statement tonight, Lincolnshire Police added: “We are saddened to report that the driver of the Zafira, a man aged in his 80s, has died as a result of this collision. Enquiries are ongoing into the collision and investigating officers continue to appeal for any witnesses or dashcam footage.
