M42 double lorry crash live as Birmingham Airport junction hit with long delays

A double lorry crash is causing severe delays for Midlands motorists and holiday-makers this afternoon, December 1. Lanes are closed on the M42 northbound[1] between J6 and J7 due to a collision involving 2 heavy goods vehicles.

Emergency services[2] are at the scene, and at this time it is not known if there are any serious injuries. J6 of the M42 serves Birmingham Airport, and motorists have been warned to plan ahead this afternoon as a clean-up operation takes place.

National Highways West Midlands has warned of major delays this afternoon. Traffic is also snarling up in the opposite direction on the southbound carriageway due to onlookers, traffic system INRIX reports.
