Long M5 delays after lorry crashes into electricity box
Five fire engines, police and ambulances were on the northbound carriageway between junction 5 (Droitwich) and 4a (M42) after a crash involving a lorry.
The vehicle was on the wrong side of the barrier forcing police to stop traffic while emergency services were at the scene.
Nobody was trapped in the vehicle at the time.
Lanes remained closed while teams worked to make repairs to damage on the carriageway.
A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Five Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Droitwich, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Leominster and Worcester Fire Stations - were called at 6am on December 21 to a road traffic collision involving a large vehicle on the M5 northbound between junctions 5 and 4a.
"The incident involved one lorry and no persons were trapped.
"The vehicle was on the wrong side of the barrier and had been in collision with an electricity box.
"The road was blocked by the incident.
"Police, highways and ambulance were all in attendance.
"The incident was marked as pending closure at 9.24am."
Long delays were reported across the area, and there were approximately four miles of congestion on the approach.
A spokesperson from West Mercia Police added: "We were called to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a lorry. No injuries were reported.
"The road remains closed to repair damages of the motorway, drivers are advised to find alternative routes."
