Live weather alerts for Bristol as Met Office issues yellow warning for wind
Met Office perspective on wind gusts up to 75mph
Meteorologist Alex Burkill, who works at the Met Office, has been offering his perspective on the windy forecasts for much of the UK, saying: “In the south it is going to be relatively mild with highs of around 11C or 12C but with the wind, the rain and the cloud it will be feeling feel pretty unpleasant at times and colder further north, with temperatures here suppressed into mid-single figures.”
Gusts of around 45 to 50 miles per hour are to be expected throughout the day, with gale force winds of up to 75 mph also likely across parts of the south west.
Some snow has been forecast for the UK, but with mild temperatures in much of England, this is only likely in parts of Scotland. Mr Burkill added: ““Elsewhere it is the rain and the strong winds we need to watch out for.
“Heavy rain across parts of Wales and strong gales likely around southern, south-western coastal parts in particular – so a pretty unsettled day.”
