Live updates as ‘all traffic held’ on M6 after smash

Traffic has been brought to a stop on the M6 this morning following a crash. The incident has taken place on the southbound carriageway between Junctions 17 and 16.

Traffic monitoring system Inrix reported the incident just after 6am. It states: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M6 southbound from J17 A534 Old Mill Road ( Sandbach / Crewe) to J16 A500 (Stoke-on-Trent / Crewe)."

Meanwhile live traffic cameras have shown a number of cars and trucks all at a stand-still near to Junction 17. At this stage no further details of the incident have been released.
