Glasgow ‘sky opens up’ as confused resident spots strange ‘black object’
Residents in Glasgow have been left confused after spotting a strange[1] 'black object' in the sky while capturing the beauty of the full moon on Boxing Day.
A video shared with GlasgowLive shows a resident zooming into the full moon before being taken aback by the unknown object that is later seen splitting in two.
At first, Megan Cochrane thought that the "sky is opening up" and has never seen anything like it before. She was capturing the full moon with her cousin and brother from the window of her Knightswood home before zooming in to see the anomaly this afternoon.
The 26-year-old said: "I noticed this black oval shape and I made a joke saying it looks like the sky is opening up but then it got bigger and split into two and stretched out while getting longer and travelling through the sky.
"At first I thought, when it split, that it might have been birds but then I was thinking it can’t be as they travel in an arrow shape. We were in absolute shock and have no idea what it could be, we have never seen anything like it.
"We can't believe we caught it on camera."
