Emergency services rush to crash near Merry Hill shopping centre
A crash took place near Merry Hill shopping centre, with emergency services rushing to the scene. Crews from West Midlands Police[1], West Midlands Fire Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] descended on the A4603 Pedmore Road, in Quarry Bank, Brierley Hill[3], last night.
Emergency vehicles on blue lights descended on the southbound carriageway, a photograph from the scene showed. A post on the Spotted : Brierley Hill and local Facebook page said: “Pedmore Road closed off, going towards Lye, due to a RTC number of medical and fire services attending.”
West Midlands Fire Service said it was called to Sheriff Drive, which is located adjacent to the A-road and separated by a small row of trees, at around 8.28pm on Saturday, December 23. The fire service said three appliances responded, totalling around 15 firefighters, to a crash involving two cars. It was not clear whether anyone was injured.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: “The time of call was 8.28pm, three appliances were in attendance, two cars were involved.” Pedmore Road is a busy road located near the Merry Hill centre.
It takes traffic from Brierley Hill into Quarry Bank, where the A4603 becomes known as Thorns Road. BlackCountryLive visited that stretch of road in October where residents raised concerns about road safety.[6]
