Boy, 16, ‘seriously injured’ after being struck by Mercedes van in street

A teenage boy was rushed to hospital after he was hit by a van in a street during the morning rush hour. It happened in Station Road, at the junction with Gorsey Lane, in Coleshill, north Warwickshire[1], just after 8am on Monday, December 4.

Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene. They found a 16-year-old boy with ‘potentially serious injuries’ who had been hit by a black Mercedes van.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a van and pedestrian at the junction of Gorsey Lane and Station Road at 8.07am on Monday, December 4. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

“On arrival we discovered one patient, a teenage male, who was the pedestrian. He was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”

Gorsey Lane was closed and Nationa Express West Midlands diverted its X13 service along Roman Way for a short while, resuming its normal route shortly before 10.30am. The van driver stopped at the scene and was spoken to by police. But the police confirmed there is no open investigation into the incident.
