Bezos told his yacht is too big for marina

When Jeff Bezos’s $500 million schooner first set forth upon the ocean, sailing aficionados praised its classic design, luxurious fittings and the array of green technology on board. But for all of these advantages, it is rather hard to park.

When the 416ft Koru pulled into Port Everglades in Florida this week, the Amazon founder’s boat had to be moored not among the yachts in the marina but in a berth typically reserved for oil tankers.

“It’s in an area that’s for energy ships,” a spokeswoman for the port said yesterday. “When we have large yachts that don’t fit in your typical marina we fit them where they can fit in the port.”
