A2 blocked as as multi-vehicle crash in Canterbury causes traffic

The A2 in Canterbury was partially closed this morning (December 3) due to a multi-vehicle collision in Bishopsbourne. The A2 was initially closed in both directions at around 4.30am between the A2050 (Canterbury) and the A260 (Denton).

The westbound carriageway reopened an hour later, while the eastbound carriageway remained closed within the junction for Coldharbour Lane, near Bishopsbourne due to a separate incident involving a lorry.

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 1.14am on Sunday, December 3 to a report of a single-vehicle collision on the London-bound A2 near Barham where a lorry was reported to have collided with a tree and the central reservation. No injuries have been reported. Officers are at the scene along with other agencies and a road closure is in place while the incident is attended to.”

A National Highways spokesperson said: “Traffic is being diverted around the incident via the exit and entry slip roads.” The road has now been fully reopened.
