Woman and teen seriously hurt in M6 crash as motorists stuck for …

A woman has been left with potentially life-threatening injuries following a crash on the M6. It came after a car and two lorries collided on the southbound stretch of motorway at junction 12 for Penkridge.[1][2][3]

The woman who was driving the car and the passenger, a teenage girl, was seriously hurt in the smash and were left trapped in a Toyota. They were both helped out by firefighters before being rushed to hospital following the incident which happened at around 2.45am this morning (November 1).

Two ambulances were sent to the scene alongside two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic and a BASICS emergency doctor. Following the crash, the junction has been closed as police investigate.

Drivers have been stuck for hours, with 45 minute delays remaining at time of writing. A West Midlands Ambulance Service[5] spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival we found a woman and a teenage girl who were the driver of and a passenger in the car.

“The woman was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained potentially life-threatening injuries. She received advanced trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene and was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital[6] for further treatment under emergency blue light conditions

“The teenage girl was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained serious injuries. Ambulance staff administered advanced trauma care at the scene before she was conveyed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further treatment under emergency blue light conditions. No further patients required treatment.”

A spokesperson for Staffordshire[7] Police added: “We were called to the M6 junction 12 southbound just after 2.15am this morning (Wednesday 1 November) following reports of a collision involving two lorries and a car. We went to the collision with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service.

“Two women, trapped in a white Toyota, were helped out of the car by fire crews. Both women were taken to hospital for treatment.Both lorry drivers stayed at the scene to help officers with inquiries. Inquiries are ongoing and we are advising motorists to avoid the area and look for alternate routes.
