Two in Royal Stoke after crash triggers huge A500 delays

Two men have been taken to hospital after a smash between a lorry and a car on the A500[1]. One lane was closed off during the rush-hour smash which saw long delays on the D-road.

StokeonTrentLive reported[2] how police,[3] paramedics and National Highways officials had been called to the scene near Fenton[4] just before 5.30pm yesterday. One lane on the southbound side was closed until just before 7pm.

Today West Midlands Ambulance Service[5] has confirmed two ambulances were sent to the scene near the City Road turn-off.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a HGV near to the junction of the A500 and City Road and two ambulances attended the scene. On arrival we discovered two patients from the car, both men. They were treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.”

Any witnesses should call Staffordshire Police on 101.
