Two casualties in Royal Stoke after smoke engulfs home

A man and woman have been taken to hospital after a fire. Emergency services filled Leamington Gardens, in May Bank[1], yesterday afternoon following reports of a blaze on the residential street.

West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] has confirmed a man and woman were hurt and taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital[3]. StokeonTrentLive had previously reported[4] how residents had noted a lot of smoke in the area as emergency services dealt with the incident.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service[5] had been called out at around 3.45pm - with the blaze extinguished by around 4.25pm. The service has not released any further details on the incident.

But a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and a critical care car from Midland Air Ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a woman and a man who were assessed by ambulance staff. Both had sustained injuries not believed to be life threatening. They were conveyed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital[6] for further assessment.”

We have contacted the fire service for further details.
