Temporary changes at Anniesland station as accessibility project …

Major work to provide step-free access to and from Anniesland station is well underway, with the access steps to Platforms 1 and 3 now closed to passengers as work to install two new lifts takes place

The existing footbridge and steps up to each platform will remain when the project is completed, but passengers are reminded of the temporary changes to station access during construction.

The stairs for access to Platforms 1 and 3 from Great Western Road are now closed, and passengers must use the walkway to access the station. This is fully signposted from Great Western Road and from Platform 1.

Amanda Naughton, scheme project manager for Network Rail, said: “We appreciate everyone’s patience, as we understand our construction activities and changes to access are a big change for passengers and everyone walking or driving through Anniesland Cross.

“We can’t carry out this work safely without using part of the existing platforms and walkways to make the changes to the station, but these will be available again once the work is complete.

“We’ll continue to make every effort to cause minimal disruption as the project progresses.”

Rail passengers and road users are also reminded that the footpath underneath the railway bridge, parking bays, and the inside eastbound lane of Great Western Road will be closed until the work is finished in 2024. A diversionary route is in place for pedestrians and is fully signposted to encourage the use of traffic lights when crossing the road.

Anniesland residents were given a first look at plans at an information session in Netherton Community Centre earlier in the summer.
