Slow traffic with 45-minute delays on M6 in Cheshire

Long queues have formed on the M6 northbound between junction 18, Middlewich, and junction 23, Haydock.

Traffic on the motorway in Warrington, which is in between both junctions, is currently moving very slowly as a result.

It comes after the M6 was closed in Warrington yesterday, Wednesday, which caused traffic chaos both in and around the town.

It was closed due to a police incident which involved the pursuit of a BMW driver.

Police give update on M56 and M6 pursuit that caused rush hour traffic chaos[2]

At around 3.30pm officers from Cheshire Police attempted to stop a vehicle near the A49 near to Stretton.

The vehicle, a black BMW convertible, failed to stop and made off onto the M56 and then onto the M6, attempting to travel contraflow.

Thankfully, officers quickly stopped the vehicle near to junction 20 of the M6 northbound at Lymm, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for officers, using a cloned number plate, two counts of drug driving – namely cannabis and cocaine – and drink driving.
