ScotRail launches Christmas campaign in a bid to encourage …
‘Christmas[1] by Train', ScotRail[2]'s latest advertising campaign has launched today (13th November) and aims to encourage people to travel by train over the festive period whilst saving money with the rail operator's value-for-money ticketing[3] alongside discounts including Kids for a Quid, Club 50 and GroupSave.
Christmas often involves plenty of wonderful opportunities for people to get out and about, such as going to see a pantomime, Christmas markets, visiting friends and family and, of course, a good old festive night out.
With the cost of living making life ever more expensive, ScotRail is hoping to encourage people to enjoy the Christmas period by train without breaking the bank[4] by making use of its offers and discount schemes, including:
ScotRail Off-Peak All-Day Fares Trial:
The trial which will be in operation until March[5] 2024 can offer ScotRail passengers the opportunity to benefit from cheaper value-for-money tickets over the Christmas period and beyond.
The environmentally focused trial marks the first of its kind across the UK rail sector and supports the Scottish[6] Government's approach to working towards net zero by encouraging people to choose train travel over road-based transportation.
Kids for a Quid:
ScotRail's family-friendly initiative allows up to four children to make return travel for only £1 when travelling with a fare-paying adult.[7]

The discount-based club is for those aged over 50 and offers exclusive flat fares and discounts and are also valid all day every day under the Off-Peak All Day Fares Trial.
GroupSave Tickets:
For those getting together during the Christmas period, even more savings can be gained as GroupSave tickets are now open to more routes throughout Scotland[8]. The special tickets support people by saving up to a third when travelling as groups of three, four or five people and are also available all day every day during the Off-Peak All Day Fares Trial. GroupSave tickets can be purchased via a booking office or onboard a train.
GroupSave tickets are currently available on the following routes:
GroupSave is now available for journeys between the following stations:

Claire Dickie, ScotRail Interim Commercial Director, said:
“With such great value fares available, we want people to make the most of this festive season by choosing ScotRail.”
“Customers can travel for less this Christmas with off-peak fares all day, every day. Combined with the expansion of GroupSave tickets or Kids of a Quid, when you travel by train, your ticket goes further than you think.”
“Whether it's shopping trips in town or experiencing magical moments at the panto with loved ones, we hope this campaign will inspire more people to choose rail this Christmas and get to the heart of it, by train.”
