Remarkable footage shows the moment police surround BMW driver on M6 after terrifying chase

Dramatic video footage has revealed the moment police surrounded a BMW driver following a terrifying chase on Wednesday afternoon (November 8).

A man, from Manchester, was eventually arrested after failing to stop in Warrington, before then leading police onto the M56 and then the M6 before he was forcibly brought to a stop in the middle of the carriageway.

The motorway was closed northbound beside J20 just before rush hour, with a slip road also closed amid the police incident. There were huge delays for a number of hours before the suspect, aged 33, was taken into custody following the dramatic scenes.

Dramatic footage, shared to social media site TikTok by user @chris_thefella,[3] appears to show the moment the police swarmed the motorway and surrounded the convertible BMW.

A number of officers can then be seen running over to the car as other traffic was brought to a stop. Cheshire Constabulary said the man was arrested 'for a number of offences' as drivers were asked to 'avoid the area'.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 3.30pm on Wednesday 8 November, officers attempted to stop a vehicle on the A49 near Stretton, Warrington. The vehicle, a black BMW convertible, failed to stop and made off onto the M56 and then onto the M6.

"Police subsequently stopped the vehicle near to junction 20 of the M6 northbound and the driver, a 33-year-old man from Manchester, has been arrested for a number of offences."
