Police update after five vehicles involved in two crashes on A189 …
Emergency services were called to two separate crashes on the A189 Spine Road, involving five vehicles.
Officers attended the collisions near Cramlington hospital at around 4.20pm on Wednesday to reports of a two-vehicle crash. A second crash, which involved three vehicles, happened just 15 minutes later.
Police and paramedics attended and two people were taken to hospital but it is believed no-one suffered serious injuries.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At around 4.20pm on Wednesday (November 15), police received a report of a two-vehicle collision on the A189 Spine Road northbound, near to the exit for Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington.
“A short time later, at around 4.35pm, officers were alerted to a second collision involving three vehicles on the A189 Spine Road northbound, just past the Moor Farm roundabout.
“Emergency services attended the scene of both collisions where thankfully no serious injuries were reported. The road was later cleared.”
A North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called to a road traffic collision on A189 in Cramlington on November 15 shortly after 4.30pm. We dispatched one ambulance crew and two patients were taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSEC)."
