Police seize car for second time in three months over insurance …
A car has been seized by West Midlands Police[1] for the second time in three months after the driver failed to insure it. The dark-coloured Volkswagen Polo was pulled over by officers in the Brierley Hill[2] area of Dudley[3].
Cops said the vehicle had no insurance and as a result it was seized there and then. However, it was the second time the VW had been pulled over for having no insurance in three months, with the VW last seized in August.
Writing about the latest incident on X/Twitter, Brierley Hill[4] Police said: "We stopped this exact car in August for driving without insurance. Again today whilst on patrol, we spotted it again.
"The driver still had no insurance policy. The vehicle makes its return to the recovery yard and the driver has been reported."
In response to a Twitter user, Brierley Hill[7] Police said the vehicle was seized just 'one street away' from where it had been last stopped back in August. In the UK, it's illegal to drive a vehicle on public roads without at least third-party insurance.
If caught by police, you get receive a £300 penalty and also six points on your license, which would put up the price of future insurance quotes. The police also have the power to seize vehicles, as what happened in this case, and if it goes to court motorists could be given an unlimited fine and a driving ban.
