Peterborough shopping centre reopens after ‘security threat …

A Peterborough shopping centre has reopened after a ‘security threat’ forced it to close its doors. A manager at a shop at Queensgate shopping centre called police at around 9.30am on Wednesday (November 8) about a report of a security threat to their shop.

The centre, as well as the nearby bus station, were both evacuated as a precaution. Emergency services are also currently on the scene of the incident and multiple changes to bus journeys were put in place.

It is currently unknown what the specific cause of the incident is at this time. However, Cambridgeshire Police are working to establish this as well as the people involved.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire[3] Police said: “We were contacted by a store manager within Queensgate Shopping Centre at about 9.30am this morning (Wednesday) reporting contact to their head office yesterday (Tuesday) about a security threat to their store today.

“A decision was made by Queensgate security at about 10.45am this morning to evacuate the centre and bus station as a precaution. Our officers have been at the centre to assist security staff with the evacuation and work is ongoing to establish further detail about the threat and anyone involved.”
