NorDan’s ?2 million upgrade of Livingston headquarters – Business …
NorDan UK has invested £800,000 in a new Sustainability and Innovation Centre as part of a £2m upgrade of its national headquarters in Livingston.
The new facility, due for completion in early 2024, will give customers hands-on training in the installation and adjustment of its timber windows and doors, recreating different building sites with custom rigs and mock building facades.
Training will also be delivered in a purpose-built amphitheatre, where staff, customers, architects and consultants can participate in presentations or seminars on changing building standards and regulations.
Alex Brown, managing director of NorDan UK, said: “Our new Sustainability and Innovation Centre is a further commitment to our Livingston UK headquarters, and will give us greater capacity to share industry knowledge and deliver advanced training on our rapidly evolving range of products.
“Building regulations are also changing, including Scotland’s new Domestic Building Environmental Standards Bill and England’s Future Homes Standard, and as the industry increasingly moves towards lower carbon buildings, NorDan’s alu-clad timber windows and doors are becoming increasingly relevant to a wider audience.
“2023 will also be my 14th and final year as NorDan UK’s managing director, before I set down to assume the role of a non-executive director, so I’m delighted to be able to sign-off on this investment in what has been our base for over 40 years.”
NorDan UK is the UK arm of the Norwegian founded NorDan Group, a multinational business that operates in seven European countries, employing 2,200 people across 12 factories and 35 sales offices.
The company first entered the UK market in 1981, initially building a presence in Scotland, where climate conditions best suited its windows and doors, before gradually developing a UK-wide customer base.
