Man dies in hospital after horror crash on Scots road as lorry driver …

A MAN has died in hospital and a lorry driver has been arrested following a horror road crash.

The fatal smash happened on a stretch of the A90 near Crimond, Aberdeenshire[1], on Saturday morning.

Emergency teams raced to the scene after the alarm was raised around 9.55am.

The collision involved a blue Nissan Qashqai and a white lorry.

The driver of the car, a 43-year-old man, was rushed by ambulance to Aberdeen[2] Royal Infirmary.

But tragically he could not be saved and he passed away in hospital.

The passenger of the car, a 46-year-old woman, suffered no serious injuries and was discharged.

Cops arrested a 41-year-old man who was driving the lorry.

The busy road was shut for around 12 hours as officers investigated and the damaged motor was recovered.

The route was reopened to traffic around midnight.

Police are appealing to the public, including drivers with dashcam footage, for information as enquiries continue.

Sergeant Alexander Bowser-Riley said: “We are in the process of establishing the full circumstances of this collision and I would ask any members of the public who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision to contact us, any small piece of information could prove significant.

"I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision to check their dash cam for footage as it could assist us in our investigation.”
