Man critical in hospital after collision with lorry on A46

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A46 in Warwickshire[1]. The pedestrian, in his 40s, suffered serious injuries in the crash just before 3am today.

The A46 between the Oversley Mill Roundabout and Stratford Road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident. The road reopened shortly before 11am, National Highways confirmed.

It is the fourth major incident on that section of road, sometimes referred to as the 'Stratford Stretch', in the last three weeks alone. Fresh calls to improve road safety[2] between the A422 for Stratford-upon-Avon[3] and the A435 for Alcester were made after a young man died in a collision there on Friday, October 13[4], in what was an unrelated incident.

Two more serious incidents were recorded on that section of road in the days that followed.
