MAJOR Greenock Road To Shut For Three Nights

A MAIN route through Greenock is to close three nights for removal of dangerous trees.

Inverkip Road will be shut from behind Inverclyde Academy to the junction with Cumberland Road from 8pm to 6am each night between Saturday (18 November) and Tuesday (21 November).

Network Rail will cut down several trees affected by ash dieback, a fungal disease that kills trees and can lead to them falling.

Traffic will be diverted via the A770 coastal route.

Paul Craig , off-track section manager at Network Rail, said: “Work to remove the trees affected by ash dieback is essential as part of our efforts to keep members of the public safe.

“While we understand that there is never a great time to close roads, we will complete this work through the night to minimise the impact on road users.

“We thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during these works.”
