M6 crash near Coventry between two lorries and a van – as it happened

Long delays hit the M6 following a collision between two lorries and a van. Two lanes on the M6 Southbound before J4A, the M42 Interchange, were closed.

As a result of this, there was congestion building before J6, known as Spaghetti Junction. Traffic website Inrix also reported congestion on the opposite side to onlookers.

It is understood that the travel time was more than an hour at one stage. Lanes one and two, of four, are currently closed. Lane three was closed but reopened just before 3.45pm.

The impact of the lane closures hit rush-hour traffic on the busy stretch of motorway. National Highways West Midlands warned motorists to 'expect delays'.

We have contacted Warwickshire Police, West Midlands Police and also West Midlands Ambulance Service.
