London trains cancelled and diverted after vehicle hits bridge
Southern[1] are advising passengers to check before travelling this morning after a vehicle hit a ‘road over rail' bridge this morning.
The incident has happened between Sutton and Selhurst[2] / Norwood Junction[3], with all lines being blocked.
Earlier this morning, the incident caused bricks to fall onto the railway below the bridge, and it is awaiting the day turn team from Network Rail[4] to inspect the damage.
Disruption is expected to last until 2pm on Thursday 23rd November 2023.
London[5] Overground services to and from Highbury and Islington[6] via Canada Water[7] and Dalston Junction[8] will be delayed, cancelled or diverted via Crystal Palace[9] – stations between Penge West[10] and West Croydon[11] will not be served.
Incident near Sutton // Credit: Network RailWith the line closed, Southern are advising passengers to allow an extra 60 minutes to complete their journey as an alternative route will be required or a change of trains part way through the journey.
- Trains that normally run between Sutton and London Victoria[12] via West Croydon[13] will be cancelled or diverted via Mitcham
- Trains that normally run between Epsom Downs[14] and London Victoria via West Croydon are cancelled
- Trains that normally run between Epsom and London Bridge[15] via West Croydon are cancelled
