Lobster on the menu at America’s most tasteful McDonald’s

According to a local historical society, a large grey and white house on a street corner of Freeport in Maine blends Greek revival and Italianate architecture and was built in 1850 by a prominent merchant named William Gore.

It is also quite accurately described as a McDonald’s. Set in a pleasant garden, its grand façade only slightly marred by a red and white painted sign made from carved wood beneath the lintel of the porch, it is now upheld as the grandest McDonald’s in the United States.

Visitors have marvelled at the wooden floors, the tasteful furniture, the lobster that appears on the menu in summer and the fact that it is a McDonald’s with a fireplace.
